After threatening to send missiles in the direction of the United States on the 4th of July, it would appear that Kim Jong Il was only speaking figuratively...

Federal Web sites knocked out by cyber attack

Among the targets: The Treasury Department, Secret Service, Federal Trade Commission and Transportation Department...

But it is the targeting of S. Korea as well which suggests that N. Korea is behind the attacks...

Web sites of major South Korean government agencies, banks and Internet sites also were paralyzed in a suspected cyber attack Tuesday. Ahn Jeong-eun, a spokeswoman at the Korea Information Security Agency, said the U.S. and South Korean attacks appeared to be linked.

The occasion? The 15th anniversary of the demise of Kim Il Sung, and of the accession of Kim Jong Il.

I expect the Alex Jones et al take on this will be that the DPRK is being set up... The cyber attack will be used to justify a government crackdown on the internet.

They could be right, of course.
