On December 31st, Obama signs the NDAA 2012, thereby declaring every U.S. citizen to be a potential enemy of the state, with the determination of such status to be entirely at the discretion of the executive branch. This signing opens what we greatly fear will be a chain of events culminating in civil war, the outcome of which we are less than optimistic will be favorable to the rule of law in the good ol' USA. As we joked in last month's headline summary, Obama should immediately have himself indefinitely detained, in so far as his war against Qadaffi has provided Al Qaeda with a new safe haven in Libya. But the reality is that any who shirk not of the opinion that Obama himself is an enemy of the state are at risk of being detained or even killed at his discretion. Since it is merely your word against his, calling one another traitors, without recourse to the forum of a court system to adjudicate such disputes, the one with the force of coercion, the predator drones, will then prevail. Rule of law is no more; now might makes right. This goes for everyone with a low opinion of the "Viceroy". True, the language of the NDAA limits such executive action to supporters of Al Qaeda and affiliated groups. But, all it will take to expand these provisions to domestic opposition is another staged terror attack like the Oklahoma City Bombing. Following such an event, we can expect to see, for instance, Mike Vanderbough and his "Merry Band of Three Percenters" to be added to an executive hit list...

December 16: Day of Insurrection. It was on this day four years ago, in commemorating the Boston Tea party of 1773, that the Ron Paul presidential campaign broke its own record for money raised in a single day, previously set (for the Republican primary) on Guy Fawks Day, November the 5th. With these two "money bombs," Ron Paul's supporters anticipated what would become the symbols for the right and left sides of the new American insurgency. The tea bag &/or the three cornered hat for the TEA Party and the Guy Fawkes mask for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Of course, these movements would be vulnerable to hijacking by certain interested establishment parties who would seek to redirect these insurrections into something more manageable, or even profitable. As the TEA Party was "astro-turfed" by the Koch brothers, on the right side of the duopolist system, George Soros on the left would similarly attempt to capture the OWS movement.

A notable difference between the two, however, is in the timing and the results of these redirections. The TEA party, having its origins with Ron Paul supporters, was genuinely grass roots at its inception, only to be later hijacked by certain factions of the Republican establishment and effectively controlled, as much of the performance of the freshman TEA party Republicans in Congress has demonstrated - they have (with some exceptions) essentially become the new vehicle for neo-conservative concerns on foreign policy matters, jettisoning Ron Paul's anti-war stance in favor of a strong military, bolstered by the Islamophobia that characterized the Bush years. The OWS movement on the other hand was apparently seeded by Soros foundation money at its inception - at least in so far as Adbusters might be considered a Soros front organization, though the extent of this is disputed.

In any case, there was some money to be made by the very wealthy interests that the movement decried...

It was generally believed in Tripoli that the strongmen ruling the capital, Abdel Hakim Belhaj, ex-al Qaeda, and Ismail and Ali al-Sallabi, heads of the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood, only granted Abdul-Jalil's wish for a big liberation rally in Benghazi after he agreed to declare the new Libya a Sharia state.

But after the grand celebration is over, debkafile's sources report, the transitional leader will be little more than a figurehead. Even now, he is confined in Benghazi by the three strongmen, who control most parts of the capital, and have not given him permission to move the seat of the interim government to Tripoli.

Yes, it is difficult to watch - but if you pay taxes (to the U.S. Treasury), you are implored upon to watch this - just so you understand what you are funding. You are on the wrong side of history.

The following article by Wayne Madsen echoes many of our own sentiments expressed in the post, Qadaffi Snuff, and it only further exemplifies to what extent into the "Hobbesian abyss" - bellum omnium contra omnes - the West has descended with these allegations that a surrender had been negotiated by members of the Qaddadfa tribe and that white flags were being flown from Sirte and from Qadaffi's convoy when it was attacked. We quote at length...

As Qaddafi’s body, along with those of his son, Mo’tassim, and the former Libyan army commander, Abu Bakr Yunis, rotted in a meat freezer in Misrata – for the whole world to see -- more details emerged about Qaddafi’s last hours in Sirte. On October 19, at around 8:00 am in Sirte, a convoy of 70 vehicles departed the heavily-bombed out city, heading west. There were also Twitter messages coming out of Sirte reporting that several white flags of surrender were seen in the city at day break. However, a CIA Predator drone tracking the convoy passed its coordinates on to NATO. French and other NATO jets pounded the convoy, incinerating many of the drivers and passengers. Many of those killed were black Libyans. There are now reports of mass graves in Sirte containing the bodies of scores of Qaddafi supporters and fellow tribal members.

There have been some reports that a truce and a surrender by Qaddafi and his forces was worked out between some rebel leaders and Qaddafi’s entourage through the auspices of the Qaddadfa (the tribe to which Qaddafi belonged) tribal leaders in Sirte. After the convoy was on the highway heading west, with reported white flags from some of the vehicles, the motorcade, which was not engaging in fire with rebel or NATO forces, was set upon by NATO forces. Witnesses to the surrender and/or safe passage negotiations will be hard to come by, since one of those murdered in his home in Sirte by Libyan rebels was reportedly the chief of the Qaddadfa tribe who was part of the negotiations for surrender and safe passage.

Reports that Qaddafi and his group were trying to make a dash through the offensive lines around Sirte make no sense since the convoy left after sun up and in broad daylight, when white flags could clearly be seen by the belligerents, and the Twitter messages out of Sirte indicated that rebels, pro-Qaddafi forces, and neutral observers could all see the white flags. If Qaddafi wanted to make a break for it, he would have done so at night with headlights out.

One of the last things Qaddafi is heard asking his captors is “Do you know right from wrong?” If the rebels or NATO reneged on a promise of safe passage and ignored the universally-recognized white flag signifying truce and surrender, it would constitute a gross violation of the Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907, and would, therefore, be a war crime. Under the conventions, the white flag is protected as a sign that an approaching party intends to surrender or negotiate the terms of surrender. Those displaying a white flag may not fire or be fired upon.

If NATO and the rebels violated the white flag in Sirte, it would represent one of the first major violations of a practice that began with the Eastern Han dynasty in China in the year 25, and was recognized by the Roman Empire, armies during the Middle Ages, and every major and minor nation since. A violation by NATO of the flag of truce would represent a flagrant return to barbarism by the “collective defensive” organization.

Madsen does not produce the specific Twitter feeds, and such should not of themselves be considered conclusive - after all, it was the unsubstantiated "tweets" out of Paris alleging a Qadaffi massacre of protesters that got this campaign rolling in the first place. However, we did come across this tweet from the otherwise NATO-subservient Ian Pannell of the BBC that would suggest that non-recognition of the white flag of surrender was among the rules of engagement of the NTC forces...

An international operation to rescue Muammar Gaddafi from his besieged last refuge involved mercenaries who had taken part in the notorious "Wonga Coup" led by former SAS officer Simon Mann, The Independent has learnt.

Crause Steyl, a pilot and one-time business partner of Sir Mark Thatcher, had taken part, along with the former prime minister's son, in the failed attempt to overthrow the dictator of oil-rich Equatorial Guinea. He was asked, just after the Libyan dictator's death, to fly stranded soldiers of fortune out of a mission "which had gone badly wrong". (He declined to help.)

The private force of South Africans are said to have undertaken the task of getting Gaddafi out of the country via the convoy in the belief it had the backing of the Western powers. The men were recruited, it is claimed, by a woman of British background – whose name cannot currently be published for legal reasons – living in Kenya and working on behalf of a company in London.

However, the extraction of Gaddafi ended in ferocious violence and confusion when the convoy carrying him out of Sirte, his birthplace where he made his final stand, drove into an ambush with sustained air strikes from French warplanes and ground attacks from rebel fighters. The venture came to a bloody end, with Gaddafi tortured and killed, and some of the South Africans with him reported killed, injured and captured. This has led to recriminations and accusations of betrayal. At least some of those taking part believe that the hidden aim of those who had hired them was not to save the former Libyan leader but to deliver him into the hands of his enemies...

Danie Odendaal, one of the fighters, claimed he was with Gaddafi when the convoy was attacked. He has told South African media that three groups of South Africans were flown in to Libya via Dubai and Cairo to help the Gaddafi family under a deal done with Nato.

The plan, he said, was initially to take Gaddafi to Niger. "We all believed they [certain Western countries] wanted him out of Libya. But then Nato attacked. It was a gruesome, gruesome orgy, I think we were sold out"...

Read the by-line for this site: "Web log editions shall be soft-core at best..." The video that has been issuing out of every news outlet with celebratory aplomb, from the Beeb to Fox, is of the sort that individuals found in personal possession of such would be facing criminal charges in most jurisdictions. It is a snuff film, the eagerness with which it is aired by media giants only serves to illustrate most sadly the demise of those Western values - the Rule of Law, due process, injunctions against cruel and humiliating punishment - that such organizations purport to represent. That WxxxNews is one speaking out for common decency attests how deep into the Hobbesian abyss our "civilization" has fallen. Not since the filmed, public execution by hanging of Benito Mussolini in 1945, has such a display of bestial, necrophiliac savagery been displayed. Actually, the images of Qadaffi go beyond those of Mussolini, for now we have the man stripped naked before the fatal shots are fired, and then his bloody corpse laid out for a photo-journalistic necro-feast. The Occupy Wall Street movement is providing arenas for the expression of general angst against the oligarchs that can no longer denied or obfuscated by politicians and media. Having reached this point, however, it should come as no surprise that many of the 1% are "sympathizing" with the angst of the 99% - everyone from George Soros to Ben and Jerry to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to Viceroy Obama. They want the 99% to know that they are every bit as frustrated about the situation, even though their tax returns might indicate incomes of the upper one percentile, such as Soros and B. & J., or if they merely serve as lackeys to the former, as with Bernanke and Obama.

Now that the US is having its own "Arab Spring," the power grab is on. The crisis has got its reaction, and so everyone with an agenda is jumping into the game in an attempt to redirect the focus onto their solution. Whether its Michael Moore (another one percenter) calling for the end of capitalism or Alex Jones pushing to end the Fed, each faction will try to milk this for all its worth.

As the pitch is made by the original #Occupiers, as read by Keith Olbermann, it seems reasonable enough to the average 99 percenter...

There are exceptions: for instance Glenn Greenwald might be described as a constitutionally grounded progressive; but when one considers the general lack of interest from the left in the unilateral executive assassination of American citizens Awlaki and Khan (when even anti-Muslim stalwarts on the right such as Michael Savage and Glenn Beck decried it), it becomes apparent that there is a very disconcerting phenomenon occurring on the left side of the American body politic.

A disturbing precedent...

...which occurred on September 30, and which happened to be the date in 1630 that the first Englishman was executed in North America. John Billington was hanged after he was "both by grand and petty jury found guilty of wilful murder, by plain and notorious evidence..." Now that name, John Billington, rings a bell... It happens to be the name that the former Senator and Governor of Florida, Bob Graham, chose for a character bearing a striking resemblance to himself in his "factional" novel Keys to the Kingdom. However, Mr. Billington is assassinated early on in the novel, as he is about to disclose some of the hidden secrets uncovered in his congressional 9/11 investigations.

We can only speculate as to what hidden secrets of 9/11 Mr. Awlaki must have harbored, seeing as he had served as imam to the same two 9/11 hijackers, Al Hazmi and Al Mihdhar, that feature prominently in Graham's novel, and who have otherwise been in the news lately concerning NSA and CIA reconnaissance of their whereabouts in the months preceding 9/11. Moreover, Mr. Awlaki, if he had been given the opportunity to present "plain and notorious evidence" before a jury for the crimes of which he was never formally charged, might have had something to say about being an invited dinner guest at the Pentagon just months after 9/11, in spite of his contacts with Al Hazmi and Al Mihdhar.

So, as it happens, the assassination of Anwar Al Awlaki bears, in certain respects, intriguing parallels to the assassination of the "John Billington" of Senator Graham's "faction".

Les sites les plus touchés sont dans le nord-est de l'Angleterre : 899 emplois à Brough, 843 à Warton et Preston, et 565 à Samlesbury.

In other developments, there have been a couple of curious rumours of assassination attempts over the past weekend. The timing is suggestive, for if Qadaffi had hung on to power for just a few more days, these incidents would have coincided with the 42nd anniversary of his revolution.

First, the Emir of Qatar was said to have survived with injuries an attack by a suicide bomber. As the staunchly pro-Qadaffi blog Libya S.O.S. reports...

According to Dawn newspaper of Egypt, the incident occurred in the wake of the interview, which Prince had with the Russian ambassador in the camp, on the outskirts of Doha. While procession was moving it strongly collided with a car apparently driven by the suicide bomber after the sound of bullets were heard at the site. A close associate of the Office Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani, former emir of Qatar,said that the incident resulted in injury of Emir of Qatar in the thigh and does not know the extent of that injury, eight military escorts and a close associate of the Emir of Qatar Hamad Al-Thani died on the spot. It is not yet known who stands behind this incident and what are the motives. And the death of General George Howard accompanying the prince is not yet confirmed by the media.

A civilian aircraft flew in restricted airspace Friday near Camp David in Frederick County, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, said in a statement.

An F-15E fighter jet intercepted the Piper plane at about 4:45 p.m., NORAD said.

NORAD said that the plane was out of radio communication and that it was escorted to an airport near Martinsburg, W.Va.

Begin by hyping the problem: if the U.S. defaults, economic apocalypse will ensue. Grandma won't get her Social Security check; the troops won't get paid; China will dump its U.S. Treasury notes. Then, hysterically portray the parliamentary war with each side of the Republican/Democratic divide acting like childish rivals in a game to gain petty partisan points. The "silliness" of it all engenders the public out-cry, the reaction: "for godsakes you guys get your act together or grandma will starve! Make the tough decisions!" Then, just when it seems that compromise is unattainable, the solution: a last minute deal is struck that averts worldwide financial panic and saves grandma's S.S. check for next month. But at what cost? Far down the road, grandkids' retirement benefits will be reduced and delayed by a few years, and Medicare coverage is shaved here and there so grandma's indigence is likewise trimmed by a few months or years, through ever so subtle culling mechanisms (sometimes known as "death panels," though never actually taking this blatant form). Hence, the "tough decisions" that the gullible public demanded will amount to breaches of contract for what are in essence federally operated insurance policies. So is it that the population will consent to depopulation.

Meanwhile, the military-industrial gravy train rolls unabated, and the national security state infrastructure continues to blossom into evil flowers of tyranny...

During the presidency of George W. Bush, we often mused to ourselves that he, being George III - the third U.S. president to be named George - would be the last president of the republic. The nightmare scenarios we imagined involved events like false-flag terrorist nuclear attacks in several U.S. cities prompting martial law, suspension of the Constitution, and W. declaring himself president-for-life. Now, while the mode of the realization of this outcome, the Fall of the Republic (as Alex Jones has documented it), has fortunately not occurred as feared, nevertheless the result has been achieved. George III - the monarch that preceded the establishment of an independent republic - is also the moniker of the president that ended the republic (for the time being, at least, until we can restore it).

This was achieved essentially through the election of an ineligible candidate, or one who did not meet the constitutional requirement that he be a "natural born citizen," defined as one born under U.S. jurisdiction to parents who are each U.S. citizens. Jerome Corsi makes the case in his Where's the Birth Certificate? that Barack Obama Jr., even if born in Hawaii (which he argues is not the case), was born a dual citizen, being a British subject through his African father, as he was born at a time when the soon to be nation of Kenya was still a British colony.

In light of this, we took a great interest in this particular speech of Obama before the British Parliament last month in Westminster Hall...

In our previous installment, we noted that candidate Obama's advisor John Brennan, then CEO of The Analysis Corporation (or TAC - a State Department contractor whose trusted employee had compromised the passport records of candidate Obama) would become president-elect Obama's first choice for Director of Central Intelligence; we speculated that perhaps Brennan is utilizing the information gleaned from the passport records, and is holding the evidence of Obama's ineligibility, as collateral to insure that the president serves the interests of the Military/Industrial-Complex. (This is just one interpretation of the motives for the tampering.) But these interests are are not the only ones that might be served by such information. Consider that TAC, now Global Defense Technology & Systems, Inc. (GTEC), was a wholly owned subsidiary of a British defense company, the Global Strategies Group (GLOBAL), at the time of the passports incident. (TAC was acquired in Feb. 2007 and sold in March 2011 - Govcon wire).

According to his own marketing material, he has grown it from a "small office in south London" into "one of the world's leading providers of defence and security" operating in 20 countries and working for big corporates and governments.

He is now considered one of the most well-connected personal security executives.

So then this company, whose trusted employee got the goods on Barack Obama's passport in the early primary season of the 2008 presidential campaign, also happens to be a significant corporate node sealing the "special relationship" in national security matters between members of the U.S. intelligence community (particularly CIA veterans) and their British counterparts.

One might assume then that he had some input with these operations...

So, Damien Perl happens to have some experience in the very region where the U.S. and U.K. military forces have been most recently collaborating - an operation in which the president did not even bother, as is constitutionally required, to obtain the declaration (or even the sanction) of the U.S. Congress. Nor does he show any serious inclination in doing so, despite increasingly urgent requests from the Congress that he do so immediately.

Indeed, he is not behaving like a U.S. president; rather he does bidding like a viceroy and hired mercenary "commander in chief" for the British Empire.

Compromised by Birth

And now, Wxxx News finally addresses the "Birther" issue. Though this drama has not yet completely played itself out, we believe we have come to a plausible account of the controversy.

The institution of the POTUS (President of the United States) has been compromised by various factors in recent history, beginning most tragically with the assassination of John F. Kennedy, an event that would serve to intimidate every subsequent president (with occasional reminders, as experienced by Ford and Reagan). Then there was the mere political assassination, such as was executed upon Richard M. Nixon. As Russ Baker has argued, Nixon was a little too inclined to "leave the reservation" - particularly given his probing into the "bay of pigs thing" (which was his way of saying: the Kennedy assassination). And so the "plumbers" - some of whom were involved in that "bay of pigs thing" - went to work, committing a sloppy burglary, and the rest was history.

But in the present circumstances, we suspect that the presidency has been compromised by the very birth of Barack H. Obama Jr. We do not claim to know with any certainty the state or nation of his birth. He may very well have been born in Hawaii. Of greater import, however, is the fact that the record of that nativity has been compromised. Indeed, the man sitting in the Oval Office today is, as a popular bumper sticker available on WorldNetDaily puts it, an UNDOCUMENTED WORKER.

How and when the record was compromised remains an open question. One possibility, for which there is some evidence, is that as in the case of Nixon, a"plumbers team" was deployed long before the current president had even secured the nomination. Jerome Corsi uncovers this evidence - without comment of its significance - early in his recently published Where's the Birth Certificate? Corsi discusses what was perhaps the first murmurings of "birtherism" in March of 2008. This did not occur in the outer reaches of the Internet, but in the consular affairs section of the State Department, the records of which concern passports. At the time, it was reported that contract employees of two companies, Stanley Inc. and the Analysis Corporation, had breached the passport information of candidates Clinton, McCain and Obama. We read on page xiii...

John O. Brennan, a former CIA agent who was then serving as an advisor on intelligence and foreign policy to senator Obama's presidential campaign, headed the Analysis Corporation.

And the same John Brennan would later become president-elect Obama's primary candidate to head the CIA, until critics like constitutional lawyer and commentator Glenn Greenwald made a fuss in...

So he made an end-run around the Congress and designated Brennan his counter-terrorism czar (which does not require congressional approval). It seems that Brennan simply had to be appointed to something. Among his duties in this nebulous position would be insuring that we "look forward and not backward" when it came to the issue of the accused war criminals of the previous administration. Greenwald would later write:

Brennan would also become the primary author of the original (but soon revised) "Obama kills Osama" fable.

But back to Corsi...

...the State Department investigation [into the breaches] had focused on the contract worker for the Analysis Corporation because he was the only one of the three involved in breaching the passport records of both Senators Obama and McCain...

The other two employees, who worked for Stanley Inc., were fired. But the Analysis Corp. employee was only reprimanded. On the next page, Corsi adds:

One investigative reporter, Kenneth Timmerman, said a well-placed but unnamed source told him the real point of the passport incidents was to cauterize the Obama file, removing any information that could prove damaging to his eligibility to be president.

Ah yes, those "well-placed but unnamed" sources, feeding eager reporters those little tidbits. But we must wonder if cauterizing was all that was done. Might the information that had allegedly been cauterized have also been copied beforehand, so that a certain leverage could be utilized upon the potential future president should he ever get the gumption to wander off the reservation? (Though there is little indication thus far that Obama has any such gumption.)

Another archive that was apparently tampered with is the birth registry of the Coast Provincial General Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya, as is indicated in a July 2008 correspondence between the Kenyan government and Bush's ambassador to Kenya, reproduced in a recent article by Corsi...

The source said there has been no problem in the past with the Analysis Corp. employee, who has "extensive" experience. The worker has been with the company for years and has always worked under a State Department contract.

Explaining that the department had "complimented" this person for work in the past, the source said the individual is considered a "terrific" employee, except for this one instance, characterized as an "aberration."

Wayne Madsen Report: "Apocalint" -- new intelligence category emerges

Move over SIGINT (signals intelligence), HUMINT (human intelligence), and IMINT (imagery intelligence), there is a new intelligence category in town that can be called "APOCALINT," or "apocalypse intelligence." The interest area pertains to the study of sudden earth changes, extreme events that many people believe will lead to the apocalypse.

According to a source with a Western European intelligence service that is upset with the lack of cooperation from its American counterparts, it has set out on its own to gather intelligence, some of it from open sources, other parts from classified sources, on the sudden spate of destructive earthquakes, tsunamis, and severe weather. The goal of the program is to determine whether the destructive seismic and weather events portend significant earth changes in the near future.

The CIA has already been devoting some of its intelligence resources into monitoring earth change events, including the use of spy satellites. The CIA's Measurements of Earth Data for Environmental Analysis (MEDEA) program has used orbiting surveillance satellites to monitor the rapid decline of Arctic Sea ice that is resulting from polar shift. The program is under the aegis of the CIA's Center on Climate Change and National Security.

However, some of the CIA's foreign intelligence partners are not happy with the amount and quality of the intelligence Langley is sharing with them. One Western European agency has, therefore, decided to go it alone with its own version of APOCALINT.

Preliminary findings by the intelligence service indicate that the planet is undergoing a major magnetic and geographic polar shift that may increase by a large order of magnitude in the next few years.

As far as the weather and seismic activities being caused by man-made activities, the intelligence service examined the possibility and while it discovered there is technology that can affect weather and seismic activity, what has recently been affecting the planet on a global basis and with more intensity than that possible from any man-made source is purely natural and is a result of a major polar shift event.

The recent Japanese quake and nuclear meltdown of the Fukushima reactor is what prompted the high priority given to collect intelligence on current planetary changes and how these may affect other nuclear facilities, agriculture, fishing, economic growth, massive unemployment, social unrest, and international trade.

Recent seismic and severe weather activity has dealt severe blows to the economies of Japan, New Zealand, Chile, Pakistan, Australia, northern Burma, and the southern United States. The nation of Haiti has effectively been relegated to an international ward status. These events have triggered a need for a new intelligence discipline, one that focuses on global climate and tectonic/seismic activity and the resulting effect on world and regional finance, politics, and security.

One discovery by the intelligence agency in question is the large amount of disinformation and propaganda being disseminated, particularly from the United States, about the impending global changes and the increasing probability of greater catastrophes.

A large number of pornographic videos have been found among the huge cache of materials seized from the Abbottabad hideout of slain al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. Officials from the CIA-led Inter-Agency Task Force, who are going through the stream of information found from bin Laden's compound, said it was not clear yet who used to watch the videos.

A US official said the pornographic material was found in a wooden box in bin Laden's bedroom and included electronically recorded videos, according to media reports.

Bin laden had no access to internet and telephone.

In another video made public by the US government, Laden is seen watching himself on television, indicating that those living inside the compound could play back videos.

Several elements of this story brings to mind the 1983 David Cronenberg film, Videodrome, about a TV producer who runs a cable channel that specializes in adults only programming, progressing from soft-core porn to snuff films. One of the characters of note is the mysterious Brian O'Blivion, a Marshal McCluhan-modeled media guru who never appears on television,
except when he appears on a television monitor.

The character O'Blivion brings us this quote:

And so, of course, the error in our headline is deliberate. We lost count of how many times we've heard the accidental transposition of the "b" for the "s" during the reporting and commentaries of the alleged assasination of Osama bin Laden in the first weeks of May. And sometimes the transposition is not accidental, as when U.S. troops on the ground in Afghanistan often confound their target and Commander in Chief as "Obama bin Laden" (as related in a personal interview with one soldier). The transposition is appropriate, in any case, for the story of "Obama kills Osama" is very likely "BS".

Given the numerous reports of bin Laden's kidney disease (among other ailments) in the year 2001, how likely is it that he could have survived for another 10 years with the regular dialysis treatment that he would have conspicuously required, while remaining hidden?

On the converse, how likely is it that the U.S. Government could hood-wink an entire nation, along with a good part of the rest of the world, that it had indeed killed a person without producing a body, or any witnesses, or any independent corroboration of the physical evidence to confirm it?

Weighing the relative likelihoods of these two scenarios, our bets fall on the latter. But, there are other factors that support this wager.

Something we've heard, but failed to report on account of our source being 2 or 3 degrees removed from the original source, is that bin Laden has been dead for quite some time. This allegation was made some years ago by none other than current Speaker of the House, John Boehner. He said, in the presence of relatives, perhaps at a family gathering after one too many glasses of merlot, that the government knows bin Laden is dead, but we keep him "around" for the sake of his bogeyman status. Of course, stories can be twisted when removed 2 or 3 times from the original, so we shied away from passing it along through this outlet...

But, tales of Osama's demise have been persistant since late 2001, from numerous sources in Washington D.C. and elsewhere...

Rush opines that Obama... he means Osama is most definitely dead, but the question remains as to when he died. Limbaugh then goes off script, to the chagrin of his in-studio staff, and procedes to relate what an unnamed source told him eight years ago: that bin Laden was spotted on a horse during the battle of Tora Bora; then ten minutes later, the same area was obliterated in a bombing conflagration. If he was killed at this time, then either identifiable remains were never recovered, or, even if they were recovered, it was decided that it would be preferable to keep the bogeyman, and so the general public was never informed of this, though insiders were informed.

Where the insiders differ, however, is the cause of death. So, while Limbaugh has him killed in battle at Tora Bora, the earliest report of his demise has him dying of natural causes...

Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.

"The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.

Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.

About 30 close associates of bin Laden in Al Qaeda, including his most trusted and personal bodyguards, his family members and some "Taliban friends," attended the funeral rites. A volley of bullets was also fired to pay final tribute to the "great leader."

The Taliban source who claims to have seen bin Laden's face before burial said "he looked pale ... but calm, relaxed and confident."...

When asked where bin Laden was buried, the source said, "I am sure that like other places in Tora Bora, that particular place too must have vanished."

While Dr. Steven Pieczenik claims he died of Marfan's syndrome...

Word is that curios George Gillett the Phoenix ASAC stepped on it again. Allegedly he has approved more than 500 AR-15 type rifles from Tucson and Phoenix cases to be �walked� to Mexico. Appears that ATF may be one of the largest suppliers of assault rifles to the Mexican cartels! One of these rifles is rumored to have been linked to the recent killing of a Border Patrol Officer in Nogales, AZ. Can anyone confirm this information?

At time-stamp 17:33 in the video, A Time for Choosing - Ronald Reagan's 1964 campaign speech for Barry Goldwater - there is a curious reference to a foreign assistance program that provides "extra wives for Kenya government officials..." What on Earth could Reagan be referring to?

After all, the memo stated:

NHK: Experts - Quake in wider areas was unexpected

A government panel of experts says the earthquake of magnitude 8.8 may have occurred in a wider ranging focal area than was expected.

The panel says geologists had not imagined several source areas would be synchronized.

The Earthquake Research Committee chaired by Tokyo University professor emeritus Katsuyuki Abe held an extraordinary meeting on Friday night.

At a news conference, Abe said an observation conducted at an observatory using a GPS earthquake tracker shows that the ground there has moved about 4 meters to the west.

The panel has concluded that all 4 expected focal regions were synchronized. The 4 regions make up a stretch of a few hundred kilometers, from waters off Miyagi prefecture to waters off Ibaraki prefecture.

Abe said that further evaluation of the quake would be needed after more data has been collected. He said only then would it be possible to determine whether an initial quake with a magnitude of 7.3 on Wednesday provided a warning of a bigger quake to come.

We find out in the Jan. 7, 2011 episode of The Alex Jones Show (beginning at time-stamp 9:00 & continuing in part 2) that, according to Bob Chapman, "an older" Ronald Reagan appears in a covertly shot (but not by an intelligence agency) porno film...

"The film was a woman with him who used an artificial device... to do what they did."

...is as much detail as Chapman is willing to disclose. He claims he viewed this black and white reel at an "elite screening" in the late '70s or early '80s. Charlotte Iserbyt confirms that she heard similar rumours.

This isn't the first time a president has been rumoured to have stared in a stag flick. As we read on page 170 of Dave Thompson's Black and white and blue: adult cinema from the Victorian age to the VCR, a stag circulated in the 1960's purportedly starring Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy (or his brother Robert). This rumour has been quashed. But we can always wonder about Bill Clinton perhaps ending up on video tape during one of his famous coke binges. It wouldn't be surprising to find out the same of Barack Obama (who after all was schooled by pornographic author Frank Marshall Davis) or even of George W. Bush during one of his drunken binges.

Addendum

We wonder, since Mr. Chapman seems certain that this film (or video?) was not shot by an intelligence agency, perhaps it was shot by Bob Crane or his friend John Carpenter (the amateur porn camera man, not the horror film director). If Reagan was a secret swinger, it is not at all implausible that he could have been "accidentally" captured on camera at a party where Crane and Carpenter were also present, since they notoriously played fast and loose with their video toys (as depicted in Auto-Focus). Curiously, Carpenter was suspected but never convicted of Crane's murder in 1978, which was around the time that Chapman saw this film, and around the time that Ronald Reagan was gearing up for his run for president...

Nevermind Barack H. Obama Jr.'s long-form State of Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth, which all of the "birthers" have been demanding to be released. A document that may tell us more about his nativity - in that it describes the program that made his very existence possible - is one that was disclosed long ago by L. Fletcher Prouty in his 1973 book, The Secret Team. In Appendix III, Prouty published a May 15, 1959 special presidential commission report on the conducting of clandestine recruitment programs overseas.

The proposed FY-60 Military Assistance Training Program and the Technical Assistance Program reflect substantial increases over previous years. The latter includes a first entry into the undergraduate study field. Meanwhile, the geographic emphasis of the International Educational Exchange Service shifts away from Europe. -Pg. 539

Barack H. Obama Sr. was "TAP'd" as the first African to attend the Manoa campus of the University of Hawaii for the academic year 1959/60 (corresponding to FY-60). Wayne Madsen details the circumstances of his recruitment by CIA asset Tom M'Boya in the first part of his series, The Story of Obama: All in the Company (a free version of parts I through V available at LewRockwell.com). Madsen does not mention the text previously disclosed by Prouty, yet it offers much to corroborate his account. Take, for instance, this passage under the heading, "U.S. Training Environment"...

We have already alluded to the requirement for raising our sights with respect to the objectives of leadership training in the United States. Extracurricular activities should be as carefully planned as the formal course of instruction, and the keynote should be something more than traditional American hospitality. -Pg. 559

Madsen claims that, contra the official story that Obama Sr. and Ann Dunham had first met in a Russian language class, the presence of Ann's father Stanley with Obama Sr.'s reception party indicates that the father had perhaps played an integral role in in his training... If so, the above passage suggests that Dunham had arranged for "extracurricular activities" far beyond "traditional American hospitality."

Another section of note in the report has the title, "Special Problems of Africa"...

Africa is the one area of the world where we have the leisure for forward planning, where we can lay the groundwork for the sort of comprehensive attack outlined by the Presidential Task Group, where we can begin to identify and groom the future national leaders. -Pg. 549

Of course this passage merely refers to the immediate goals of the program, which indeed Obama Sr. would fulfill as an economic minister in the Kenyan government; yet its authors could not have imagined how prescient they were of contingencies in the distant future...

Unless of course if we were to take a more highly speculative conspiratorial account of the overall program, which might encompass the MK-ULTRA mind control program. As Madsen notes, particularly in Part V of his series, the University of Hawaii was one of five academic centers of this research program in the 50's and 60's. There are two episodes of The Outer Limits that may provide some insight into these issues. This was a television program that aired from the last months of the Kennedy Administration into the first year of the Johnson Administration, and whose writers had an uncanny knack for dramatizing some of the clandestine programs active around that time (e.g. "Expanding Human" on LSD research). We cite "The Special One" and "The Hundred Days of the Dragon".

As the lame duck U.S. Senate is scheduled to debate the S 510 food bill this week, so does it prepare to aid and abet its big agri-business sponsors in shoving more sub-lethal poisons down the throats of every man, woman and child in America (not to mention our four-legged friends).

While the bill may reduce to some extent the occasional incidents of headline-grabbing illnesses and deaths resulting from E-coli and salmonella outbreaks originating primarily from industrial food facilities, the more subtle, slow acting poisons such as can be found in genetically modified organisms, bovine growth hormones, herbicides and pesticides will become more widespread and much more difficult for the discerning and cautious consumer to avoid. These sub-lethal poisons are of the sort that you can't identify with any particular meal; rather, as they accumulate, they result in, say, the chance occasion of horizontal gene transfer from Monsanto's Bt corn to your intestinal flora, leading to episodes of putrid burp syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome, with such intestinal stresses eventually culminating in colon cancer. Or these slow poisons will gradually compromise your immune system, making you more and more susceptible to viruses, and rendering you a little more vulnerable to the grim reaper a little sooner than you would have been under historical alimentary conditions.

Indeed, this bill may be said to institute Death Panels on the cellular level.*

How is this achieved? It is achieved in the same way that any industry comes to be dominated by its largest corporations - by co-opting large government bureaucracies to set up regulatory standards which it has little trouble meeting (or the violations of which are fiscally manageable) while smaller companies must devote proportionately larger shares of resources to dealing with paperwork and inspectors (of agencies like the FDA which tend to avoid prosecutions of large corporations armed with formidable legal departments). The smaller the business is, the larger the fraction of its budget that must be devoted to satisfying regulatory regimes. The result in the case of the food bill then will be less small, locally owned, organic producers of high quality, unprocessed, non-GMO, fresh, delicious and highly nutritious food, and more factory-farmed, industrial-processed, irradiated and additive-laden GMO "food".

While many are promoting the Tester Amendment to the bill as way to exempt small farms and local food products, the amendment may be a fake out, its words trumped by a sovereignty-eviscerating passage in the main body of the bill:

COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS.

Nothing in this Act (or an amendment made by this Act) shall be construed in a manner inconsistent with the agreement establishing the World Trade Organization or any other treaty or international agreement to which the United States is a party.

Obama knows what he is doing. His strategy to save the United States consists in this... Take a bad but "salvageable" economic situation and deliberately make it worse. The scare-quotes indicate that while the system as it stands could have been salvaged for yet another round of bubble economics, such salvation would be temporary, and the next bubble-pop could be severe enough to induce the end of the United States of America. So, then, now is the time to induce a severe depression, while the federal government still has the resources with which to hold the nation together through the times of civil unrest that are coming. Such extreme conditions then will become the spark of real and lasting change.

The above might be said to be the extreme confabulation of a die-hard Obama supporter, exhausting herself in his defence. But it comes with some supporting evidence...

Obama has always projected ambiguity concerning his identity - is he an insider or an outsider? a Wall St. lackey or a deep cover communist insurgent? Christian or Muslim? Natural born U.S. citizen or a patrilineal British subject? Indeed, he seems to thrive on keeping everyone guessing, and this goes not for not just the "birthers" and the like, but also for the puppet-masters who made him their vehicle. Can his handlers always be certain that he is on their team?

Now he is, after all, a child of the "Secret Team" - as Wayne Madsen has exposed, Obama's father came to the University of Hawaii as part of a covert CIA sponsored foreign exchange program. The rational of this program we can read of in portions of a May 15, 1959 Presidential committee report detailing the expansion of military assistance programs (MAPs) overseas to include civil service recruits. As L. Fletcher Prouty describes it in The Secret Team:

Early in this thirty-three page report the committee made a key point. It stated that the new training programs... included a first entry into the undergraduate study field. Meanwhile, the geographic emphasis of the International Educational Exchange Service shifted away from Europe to the underdeveloped countries... The Agency and the military had established their positions in and around the recipient countries, and now they were going to exploit these positions at will. - Pg. 435

And so came Barack Hussein Obama Sr. to the U.S. where he met Stanley Ann Dunham in a Russian language class, the two subsequently conceiving future POTUS 44 B.H.O. Jr. on the occasion of the election of John F. Kennedy as POTUS 35. B.H.O. Sr. however became an absent father, leaving the child searching for father-figures to replace him (as recounted in his Dreams From My Father); one of whom, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist - just the sort of insurgent that the IEES was intended to counter (or just the sort of "insurgent" the CIA could employ).

It often does seem that Obama is solidly in the CIA/Wall St. insider camp (Alex Jones's The Obama Deception being the piece de resistance for this thesis), even as Glenn Beck can make a somewhat convincing case for his covert allegiance to the Chicago commie crowd. Perhaps Barack Obama is simply schizophrenic on this score. Or perhaps (we can hope) he has epiphanied, rejecting his "birth-right" and is carefully plotting the downfall of the Secret Team, while not doing so in such a flagrant way that will get him physically assassinated (as with JFK).

In any case, it is becoming increasingly evident that the vultures are now circling around Obama, as they craft controlled aversive environments with which to carry out a psychological assassination...

And we're not just talking about LaRouchePAC anymore. On the one hand we have have a "White House Insider" - evidently a Clinton loyalist - who has been feeding us little tidbits about Obama's mental state...

As the president is walking out he is laughing at something yet again. He asked no questions of those at the meeting – not one. He left after just ten minutes, coming in laughing and leaving laughing. His behavior during that brief time he was there was described as “borderline manic”...

They were not happy. No…that is not accurate. They were pissed. They didn’t say much at the time, but word got back. They were in shock at the president’s behavior.

And indeed it would appear the Military brass/Secret Team are working to sabotage his policies, as becomes evident with the kind of selective leaking found in Obama's Wars, the latest blockbuster of Bob Woodward, the Secret Team's perennial operative "journalist"...

President Obama sat for an interview with Woodward for the book. He comes across in the book as circumspect, and he expressly refuses, when asked, to discuss classified information. We can even wonder about the loyalty of Obama's Justice Department, whose actions have set-up a race war stoking scandal, as we read again from Ulsterman...

During the 2008 presidential election, two members of the New Black Panthers were filmed outside a polling place dressed in Panther garb, with one gentleman brandishing a billy club. A complaint was filed, and an initial investigation showed the Black Panthers as having violated federal voting rights laws. Witnesses testified to the men threatening physical harm and calling a Black Republican poll watcher as being a “traitor” and warning him to not step outside or “there would be hell to pay.” Both men claimed they were “security” for the polling place.

That is when things became a bit more convoluted, and potentially damaging to the Obama administration.

In what appeared to be a simple open and shut case that had already received a default judgement against the New Black Panthers members, who themselves did not contest the charges, the Obama Justice Department dropped the case, citing “lack of evidence.” Then Department of Justice member J Christian Adams was so disgusted by the dismissal he resigned his position from the department, claiming he was told that the department only wished to pursue cases against minorities, not by minorities...

First Amendment Ruling Destined to Kill Internet Free Speech

The pessimists at Infowars should take comfort however that the Phelps clan seems to know what they are doing, as is evident in the 5 minute summary of the defense before SCOTUS (or the 75 page brief at SCOTUSblog). The patriarch of the family is, surprisingly enough, a celebrated civil rights attorney who admirably represented Kansas minorities (barring one minority of course) in discrimination cases in the 70's and 80's. Moreover, he argued against Reagan's appointment of an ambassador to the Vatican on the grounds of separation of church and state.

While the logic of celebrating dead soldiers because "god hates fags" may be twisted alright (we would imagine God to be more justified in celebrating dead soldiers on account of the use of depleted uranium), these protests seem to be designed to incite the maximum public outrage while remaining strictly within the letter of the law... It might almost seem as if they are provoking the general public to demand the evisceration of its First Amendment.

Let us hope SCOTUS will not take the bait this time, and will again remind the plaintiffs, lest all our speech is held hostage by the most thin skinned among us:

The JSOU paper cited in our first part demonstrates that on the information battlefield, the admonition to 'consider the source' is itself an avenue of attack. Raise ad hominem questions about an opponent's motive - even suggest that the opponent is working on your side - and you have thus neutralized the opponent's arsenal. There has never been a lack of rivalry and back-biting in the conspiracy theory world - but we can wonder to what extent such rivalry is the result of simple human frailties or of deliberate "shit-stirring" on the part of dissemblers.

A case in point: we wonder about the source of this hit piece on Sibel Edmonds...

We ask to what extent this site fits the bill: "information strategists can consider clandestinely recruiting or hiring prominent bloggers or other persons of prominence already within the target nation, group, or community to pass the U.S. message...[or] hiring a block of bloggers to verbally attack a specific person or promote a specific message..." The site administrator James Laffrey's urgent request for help - "More help, please. No, not money! Just leave comments on other websites and encourage people to check us out..." - would indeed reflect the JSOU paper's focus on gaining prominence in the infosphere...

We find on Mr. Laffrey's about page that he is based in Vietnam as an English language teacher - it could be interesting to determine whether he is operating a Vietnamese language blog as well and what its overall message might be.

Incidentally, Edmonds was recently in Vietnam where she shot a rather disturbing video (not at all flattering to U.S. interests)

Boiling Frogs Post: Another Sorry Episode in American History: Agent Orange

Perusing his EqualPartyUSA site, there is little in the way of "scoops" beyond this hit piece on Edmonds, though Laffrey also attacks other prominent oppositional figures like Ralph Nader and Alex Jones. Otherwise it is the usual regurgitated "conspiraciology" as can be found on thousands of other sites. The Rothschild cabal is behind everything evil in the world and whoever fails to focus on this is providing cover for the the Rothschilds. (Or perhaps Mr. Laffery providing cover for the Rockefellers?) Some curious biographical points are raised about Mrs. Edmonds and her husband; and the sexy, creepy photo on the about page of the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance - at which Edmonds volunteers - does raise eyebrows (but could this be a case of... "Hacking the site and subtly changing the messages and data—merely a few words or phrases—may be sufficient to begin destroying the blogger’s credibility with the audience..."?)

These biographical volleys at Edmonds do not go beyond highlighting mere curiosities, however; nothing substantial is offered to raise real doubts about Edmonds and her whistlebowing as an FBI translator. Ultimately, ye shall know them by their works, and Edmonds provides us with invaluable geopolitical analysis that is rarely matched elsewhere - her recent piece on the Kyrgyzstan situation for instance.

Consider another possible example of "cognitive infiltration" - to borrow Cass Sunstein's terminology - in a communication to Cryptome signed "Wikileaks Insiders," where the target would be Icelandic Parliamentarian Birgitta Jónsdóttir, who was instrumental in killing the "IceSlave" plan...

Birgitta Jonsdottir; a left wing Icelandic politician is being very economical with the truth; and is behaving true to her stereotype as a persistent and predicable anti American loud mouth. Many WIKILEAKS activists consider Birgitta Jonsdottir a liability to WIKILEAKS; responsible for introducing excessive political bias into our output. This was evident with her naming, editing, and commentary of the gunship video.

If this is such a case, however, the author has put less effort in establishing his/her oppositional cover, as it is delivered in the tone of a Rush Limbaugh.

A confounding case of source tainting revolves around the strange, and apparently heavily medicated figure of Adrian Lamo, the tipster who outed the alleged leaker to WikiLeaks, Bradley Manning. The cover story of how this came about is difficult enough to swallow, as noted by Glenn Greenwald...

This case took a confusing twist however when it was "revealed" in Forbes of all places that Lamo volunteered for a shadowy semi-private Internet snoop group known as "Project Vigilant". It appears however that this of itself is a false lead, as a little bit of investigating on the part of John Young showed Project Vigilant's website to be of dubious provenance...

Cryptome: Project Vigilant is a Fraud

Of course, this does not mean that there are no Special Ops groups, very likely private contractors, or perhaps foreign services, that engage in surveillance of U.S. domestic Internet activity. "Project Vigilant" and perhaps with it the entire Lamo/Manning/WikiLeaks/Wired/Salon/Cryptome/etc. affair is but a diversion, a "dual node network"* serving to draw attention away from the central battlefield where the information war is truly being waged...

With the amount of personal information that Internet users wittingly or unwittingly volunteer in open source mode, much can be gleaned by government agencies armed with Internet tracking algorithms, and without needing to take recourse to domestic spying as such. "Netizens" have effectively lodged themselves in glass-walled domiciles, as in the One State of Yevgeny Zamyatin's We, whence the public/private distinction has been effectively subverted, and wherein the Fourth Amendment does not apply.

Information is the New Battlefield

We're interested in information... And we believe that the whole battlefield (if there is one in the human situation) is about information. We don't think that politicians or arms have any real power, we think that's just a facade. We think the real power lies with who controls the information... - Throbbing Gristle

There is no such thing as bad information. Any piece of information can tell you something, provided that you can pose the appropriate question that the information answers. Generally the best question to ask concerns the source and his or her or its motives. There is some circularity in this, but motives can be gauged by the nature of the information that is put out... Does it always come with a particular "spin"? The veracity bar on the referent of a piece of information is likely much lower if it reinforces the ideological structure of the teller than if it threatens it. If some piece of information does threaten, then one should expect some accompanying ideological readjustment. Ideological structure comes in varying degrees of rigidity: the greater the rigidity, the more information will be rejected or arranged in conformity to it; the less rigid, the more adjustable the structure will be. Generally, reinforcing information will say more about the source - the vehicle - of the information than it does of its "currency". More often than not, a source wearing ideological bias on their sleeve will simply refrain from conveying a non-reinforcing piece of information, and forgo the vetting of reinforcing information. Such ideologically rigid "low-pass filters" then offer themselves up as unwitting vehicles for passing disinformation. These in turn can shape the ideologically less rigid who are more "open" to new and challenging "facts" and "ideas". In evaluating a piece of information, then, one should focus on establishing its provenance: its originating source and the position it subsequently occupies within varying ideological structures.

Not every passer of information readily discloses their ideological motives, however. They may even dissemble their motives... A case in point is found in some of the proposals for infiltrating the "infosphere" through blogs in a 2006 JSOU report by James Kinniburgh and Dorothy Denning, as posted on Cryptome:

In order to select or design a useful blog for conducting IO [information operations], developing measures of the blog’s ability to reach and activate the conventional, middle and micro layers of the entire infosphere, as well as the development of a method for measuring the change in attitudes, thinking, beliefs and ultimately actions that are directly attributable to the blog, is critical in order to fine tune military efforts. Selecting or creating a likely candidate blog is the first step, since the hard measure of effectiveness must necessarily come after an operation. -Pg. 17

Segmentary opposition and its gentler cousin, in-group/out-group dynamics, may prevent a foreign audience from taking an overtly U.S. government-run or sponsored blog seriously... In this regard, information strategists can consider clandestinely recruiting or hiring prominent bloggers or other persons of prominence already within the target nation, group, or community to pass the U.S. message. In this way, the U.S. can overleap the entrenched inequalities and make use of preexisting intellectual and social capital... An alternative strategy is to “make” a blog and blogger. The process of boosting the blog to a position of influence could take some time, however, and depending on the person running the blog, may impose a significant educational burden, in terms of cultural and linguistic training before the blog could be put online to any useful effect. -Pg. 20

There are certain to be cases where some blog, outside the control of the U.S. government, promotes a message that is antithetical to U.S. interests, or actively supports the informational, recruiting and logistical activities of our enemies. The initial reaction may be to take down the site, but this is problematic in that doing so does not guarantee that the site will remain down. As has been the case with many such sites, the offending site will likely move to a different host server, often in a third country. Moreover, such action will likely produce even more interest in the site and its contents. Also, taking down a site that is known to pass enemy EEIs (essential elements of information) and that gives us their key messages denies us a valuable information source. This is not to say that once the information passed becomes redundant or is superseded by a better source that the site should be taken down. At that point the enemy blog might be used covertly as a vehicle for friendly information operations. Hacking the site and subtly changing the messages and data—merely a few words or phrases—may be sufficient to begin destroying the blogger’s credibility with the audience. -Pg. 21

There will also be times when it is thought to be necessary, in the context of an integrated information campaign, to pass false or erroneous information through the media, on all three layers, in support of military deception activities... In these cases, extra care must be taken to ensure plausible deniability and nonattribution, as well as employing a well-thought-out deception operation that minimizes the risks of exposure. Because of the potential blowback effect, information strategy should avoid planting false information as much as possible. -Pg. 22

Now the caveat:

This brings us to an even more fundamental issue. Because the U.S. military is prohibited from conducting information operations against U.S. persons, it is reluctant to engage in Internet IO operations that might be characterized as PSYOP or deception. Once information is on the Internet, it can reach anyone, including those in the U.S. Thus, while the military offers factual news on the Internet through Public Affairs, it generally stays away from commentary and IO. -ibid.

And the end-run:

Some of the possible techniques we have explored in our discussion of the military use of blogging require a certain degree of subtlety, finesse, and yes, covert action. By giving military blog-based operations to the Intelligence and Special Operations communities, these uses become less risky and more feasible. -Pg. 27

While these recommendations are directed primarily towards blog-making, certainly it must have occurred to the authors (or at least to certain of their readers) that other kinds of sites on the Internet might be similarly utilized or created. For instance, data-cache sites like Cryptome (which had been around for well over a decade) and WikiLeaks (which was just beginning in the year of this JSOU paper) would be likely places to deploy tactically shaped information. Unlike the average ax-grinding blogger, John Young and Julian Assange (founders of Cryptome and WikiLeaks repectively) simply embrace the mission of information emancipation regardless of whatever ideological framework such liberated information may help or hurt. Assange does state that he is on a mission of hurting unjust governments, corporations and institutions, but we can say that WikiLeaks appears to be somewhat ideologically neutral in that, to take a couple of examples, the IPCC email leaks were embraced by the right (and other anthropogenic global warming skeptics) while the Collateral Murder video leak was embraced by the anti-war left (but the recent Afghan War Diary leak can lend itself both to the left and right).

As ideologically neutral venues and, more importantly, as source protecting venues, WikiLeaks and Cryptome thus offer themselves as fertile information battlefields for the dissembler. John Young acknowledges this, but Assange gives the dubious assurance that WikiLeaks thoroughly vets its documents, with the exception of its most recent leak, which was forwarded to The Gaurdian, N.Y.Times, und Der Spiegel for vetting...

Questions about the provenance of the Afghan War Diary have been raised - not in the mainstream media, which, across the board, has uncharacteristically been the primary purveyor of this leak, touted as the "Pentagon Papers" of our time - but in the independent media. In interviews with Alex Jones, John Young states that these documents are not digitally authenticated, while Wayne Madsen and Webster Tarply suggest that the leak my be planted in order to garner support for expanding the war into Pakistan and even to Iran. On the other hand, we have pondered whether the leak may have been planted by the Obama administration itself in order to generate a public groundswell of anti-war sentiment in order to give Obama a way out of this inherited quagmire.

2. Project Flicker identified over 5,000 individuals who subscribed to the commercial child pornography websites that were targeted by ICE. The names and identifying data on the individuals who subscribed to the commercial child pornography websites were checked against the Department of Defense (DoD) databases to identify those individuals who were associated with the DoD and subscribing to child pornography.

3. Child pornography is illegal and subscribers of commercial child pornography that are associated with the DoD put the DoD, the military and national security at risk by compromising computer systems, military instillations and security clearances to name a few. Additionally, it puts the Dor;> at risk of blackmail, bribery, and threats, especially since these individuals typically have access to military instillations.

Oceanographer John Kessler analyzes methane levels from oil spill site

Preliminary results show concentrations at some points to be a million times higher than normal, researcher says John Kessler, a chemical oceanographer in the College of Geosciences at Texas A&M University, is currently analyzing methane levels in water collected from seven miles to 500 meters from the Deepwater Horizon wellhead.

Preliminary results, he says, point to high concentrations of the gas. "Methane levels ranged from 10,000 to nearly 1 million times higher in some spots than normal concentration," Kessler said.

The 10-day cruise, which was funded by a National Science Foundation Rapid Response grant, returned June 21 with nearly 1 million data points gathered. Since that time, he and his colleagues have been analyzing the results in the shore-based lab at Texas A&M.

Ramifications are multifold, Kessler said. He called the site a natural laboratory in which to better assess the effect of methane on global climate change. Naturally occurring methane seeps have been linked to rapid climate change. For instance, an event occurring 55 million years ago may have caused one of these spikes, scientists believe. So the Deepwater Horizon environmental disaster may, at least, help scientists better understand and perhaps predict methane effects on global temperatures.

Results also indicate that oxygen levels at some deepwater sites were 30 percent lower, while other sites remained unaffected. "This presents a puzzle that we cannot resolve without further research," Kessler says.

In an interview with the Living on Earth radio show, Kessler added:

The ocean floor is just an absolutely enormous reservoir of methane. And there are implications that this reservoir has erupted its methane in the past, contributed this methane to the atmosphere in certain abrupt climate change events. This anthropogenic event that we are currently in the midst of, actually simulates one of those previous eruptions on how it is emitting its methane to the water so rapidly.

Kessler doesn't specify which of the previous methane eruptions is currently being simulated, but the following article makes a few suggestions...

Is this just journalistic hyperbole? The answer is likely yes, but only if in reference to the methane that has already been released. Of greater concern is the methane that could yet be released if the geological formations around the well head should collapse, and a giant methane bubble should arise...

Presently, BP is maintaining its recently installed cap on the leak, despite concerns that the plug could be increasing the seepage of the oil-methane mixture into the surrounding geological structures. Said Dr. Don Van Nieuwenhuise of the Professional Geosciences Program at the University of Houston on CNN Sunday...

One of the most serious situations would be is that if you have a leak very close to the well head and you could have a potential erosion of the substrate or the rocks around that well head that could cause it to collapse if the flow increased enough…

The tone of Coast Guard National Incident Commander Thad Allen's letter to BP's Robert Dudley last weekend suggests a heightened concern over this possibility...

Given the current observations from the test, including the detected seep a distance from the well and undetermined anomalies at the well head, monitoring of the seabed is of paramount importance during the test period. As a continued condition of the test, you are required to provide as a top priority access and coordination for the monitoring systems, which include seismic and sonar surface ships and subsea ROV and acoustic systems. When seeps are detected, you are directed to marshal resources, quickly investigate, and report findings to the government in no more than four hours. I direct you to provide me a written procedure for opening the choke valve as quickly as possible without damaging the well should hydrocarbon seepage near the well head be confirmed.

An AP update on the story Sunday suggests that the situation underneath could be worsening, and that BP is not complying with the Allen's demands...

A federal official says scientists are concerned about a seep and possible methane near BP's busted oil well in the Gulf of Mexico

Both could be signs there are leaks in the well that's been capped off for three days.

The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not been made yet.

The official is familiar with the spill oversight but would not clarify what is seeping near the well. The official says BP is not complying with the government's demand for more monitoring.

They would be performing a greater service to humanity if they were giving five dollar blow jobs in the Pentagon latrines... Or in Joe Biden's back yard...

Now, another party that took place the week previous on the White House lawn was the American Jewish Heritage Celebration Day, upon which Rabbi David Nesenhoff took the opportunity to ask Helen Thomas some questions...

Thomas was the only reporter with a specifically assigned seat in the White House briefing room, which was appropriate since she was really the only reporter who deserved a seat. The daily briefings as broadcast on C-Span are generally uneventful, regurgitated pablum (especially the questions) until the press secretary calls on Helen. She was the one who got to the point. We had noted, at the time, that her question to President Obama during his first press conference - Helen's Question - was basically a trick question to try and get him to admit the verboten truth that Israel has nuclear weapons. Unsurprisingly he evaded the question since it simply isn't kosher to discuss Israel's nukes (in part because the U.S. clandestinely helped Israel acquire its nuclear arsenal; see Secrecy News: GAO Report on the 1965 NUMEC Affair Declassified). Thomas is of Lebanese descent; as such, she has never shown the same deference to Israel's interests as do her colleagues in the press corps. As her lines of questioning on the subject of Israel and the Palestinian question have been increasingly pointed in recent years, we would wouldn't be surprised if there were an AIPAC instigated campaign to "get Helen!"

And so the end result was sadly predictable...

If a large proportion of the gas were released the effects would be devastating. If temperatures rose by the 13 degrees Fahrenheit they did during the last release, ice caps would start to melt flooding large areas of the Earth. Worse, the gas would be ignited by lightning, leaving huge fires over areas of land, with coastal areas at especially great risk of destruction. Many cities that escaped the rising sea levels would not be spared the fire.

So then, we should be extremely cautious when dealing with this substance, particularly in its hydrate form...

Financial World War is being waged. The contestants of this conflict may be difficult to pick out, since the factions are geographically dispersed, but there are certain dates that stand out. July 16, 2008: the day the Bank of International Settlements' Basel II mark-to-market capital requirements went into effect (as spelled out in Code of Federal Regulations), which is considered to be the "detonator" that exploded on September 15, 2008 with the fall of Lehmen Bros.

May the 6th, 2010 was another day of infamy, on two fronts... Only this time, the volleys were flying not from Basel to Wall St., but from Wall St. to Athens, collaterally hitting Berlin and Brussels in an campaign to destroy the Euro, and simultaneously from Wall St. to Washington D.C., in an effort to maintain its arsenal of financial instruments.

On the Athens front, as the Greek economy crashed and the streets descended into chaos, austerity measures were taken up by Parliament under the leadership of Prime Minister Papandreou, a graduate of the London School of Economics. Just prior to the debacles of early May, Papandreou described his government's situation to the Brookings Institute while on a state visit to Washington in March...

Despite the deep reforms we are making, traders and speculators have forced interest rates on Greek bonds to record highs. Many believe that there have been malicious rumors endlessly repeated and tactically amplified, that have been used to manipulate normal market terms for our bonds. Partly as a result, Greece currently has to borrow at rates almost twice as high as other European Union countries...

And when you have a common currency that is simply not viable. So we will have a very hard time in implementing our reform program if the gains from our austerity measures are simply swallowed up by prohibitive interest rates.

This whole affair has a horrible sense of déjà vu. The same financial institutions that were bailed out with taxpayers’ money are now making a fortune from Greece’s misfortunate while those same taxpayers are paying the price in deep cuts to their salaries and social services. So unprincipled speculators are making billions every day by betting on a Greek default...

Yet, our correct decisions may still be undermined by speculation, and to me this is a challenge to our democratic institutions. An elected government making huge changes with the consent (sic) of its people is being undermined by concentrated powers in an unregulated market, powers which go beyond those of any individual government. Now rest assured, Congress and the Fed are going to do something about this...

Prime Minister George Papandreou indicated yesterday that Greece might take legal action against certain US banks which, he said, bear “great responsibility” for the debt crisis engulfing his country...

Papandreou also referred to an investigation by Greece’s Parliament into deals struck by Greek authorities in 2000, with help from Goldman Sachs, that allowed them to mask the extent of the country’s debts through the use of complex financial instruments. “We are looking into the past – how things went in the wrong direction and what kind of practices were negative practices”...

On a somewhat related note, another aspect of the Senate financial reform bill under consideration is the reinstatement of the Glass-Stegall separation of banking from speculative financial institutions. Lyndon LaRouche has been vigorously campaigning for this, and so it was the main topic during his web-cast on May the 8th.

An unnamed questioner brought up a recent conversation had over the subject of Glass-Stegall with an individual from the British Finance Ministry (at an affair at the London School of Economics) who sugested that such a move to reinstate Glass-Stegall by the U.S. would be considered as a "hostile action" by Britain and other European countries...

The writers of 24 seem gifted with an uncanny penchant to parody current events. For instance, in last year's season, the March 2, 2009 episodes featured the spectacle of an African dictator seizing the White House and holding the Hillary-esque President Taylor hostage. In the current season, President Taylor is at the UN holding historic peace talks with the President of the Islamic Republic of... (name withheld - but obviously a fictional Iran). During the course of the talks, Jack Bauer and the Counter-Terrorism Unit, with its surveillance drones and its back-door access to every security camera in the city, are racing the clock to prevent the detonation of a nuclear dirty bomb in Manhattan. How curious, then, that on May the 1st, as the real President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is in New York for talks at the U.N., there should be a bomb scare in Times Square... The bomb wasn't much to speak of - described by many counter-terrorism experts as a laughable, fire-works fizzler. Nevertheless, the initial reports undoubtedly would have sparked fears of a dirty bomb, especially among those who had been primed by watching 24.

In the ensuing pursuit of the bomber, police released a video of a white man changing his shirt and looking in the general direction of the car-bomb. Contemporaneously - indeed, many news-casts immediately following the May 3rd episode of 24 led with this video - Jack Bauer has gone rouge, running around Manhattan, breaking things, changing clothes, shooting people, while being pursued by every branch of law enforcement, federal state & local.

As it turns out, the white man in the video apparently wasn't the terrorist, as authorities have now honed in on a U.S. citizen of Pakistani heritage. But the capture of this individual also bore a certain parallel to the current season of 24, in which urban surveillance drones have figured prominently...

A sustained and very intoxicating high: sitting at the Shotgun News table (in a chair with my cast-bound foot up) watching millions of rounds of ammunition move inexorably into the trunks and cargo spaces of waiting vehicles... That observation post near the choke point of the entrance allowed me to see, and even cheer, the folks stuggling by with cases of ammo on their shoulders, rolling on two- and four-whelled dollies, chugging past on mechanical mules and their trailers, even loaded out on exhibitor pickup trucks, beds full, chassis sagging, springs down on the axles. It was like watching a Ho Chi Minh trail for good guys.

You know, in every modern American war, when the enemy was getting pasted with a particularly effective artillery barrage or airstrike, it was the wont of GIs and Marines to holler out in approval: "Kaiser, count your 'children!'" or "Hitler, count your 'children!'" or "Tojo (Chairman Mao, Uncle Ho, Saddam), count your 'children!'"

At one point, a mule went slowly by, packed sky-high, hauling an equally burdened trailer and , delighted, I hollered out "Obama, count your 'children!'" People looked at me like I was nuts. Other people laughed and nodded.
